Fragrances may be defined as a class of Odours the members of which are related to another by having certain features, and frequently application, in common. Perfumery, as an art, has always been highly nature-oriented, and hence so are most of the odour words used by perfumers. If perfumery is to survive and develop as a creative art, then it is reasonable to propose that to preserve creative freedom of practitioners, its whole philosophy has to remain nature - orientated and interpretative of nature.
